He completed a general surgery internship at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center, as well as an orthopedic surgery residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. He was fellowship trained in total joint arthroplasty and limb lengthening at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in New York, New York. Dr. Matarese is the Chief of Orthopedics at Saint Joseph’s Wayne Hospital.
Dr. Matarese is also the Chairman of Orthopedics at Saint Joseph ‘s Wayne Hospital. Dr. Matarese was named to the Select Surgeons list of the Top NJ Bone and Joint Surgeons in 2023 by NJ Monthly Magazine.
He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the New Jersey Orthopedic Society, the Academy of Medicine New Jersey, the New Jersey Medical Society, and Seak Medical Examiners.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Matarese has published several articles in peer-reviewed publications, including Surgical Rounds for Orthopedics, Journal of Arthroplasty, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and NJOS/NYSSOS.
