Dr. Anthony Festa, an accomplished and highly sought-after orthopedic surgeon, is a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist and holds board certifications in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine from the prestigious American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). Dr. Festa’s area of expertise includes comprehensive non-surgical and surgical interventions for sports injuries, catering to patients of all ages, ranging from children and teenagers to adults. His patients encompass individuals engaged in recreational activities as well as notable names involved in professional sports.

Dr. Festa’s journey to excellence began with academic distinction, graduating magna cum laude from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree. Continuing his pursuit of medical education, he earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Seeking comprehensive training, Dr. Festa joined the esteemed Tufts University Affiliated Orthopedic Residency program in Boston, Massachusetts. During this time, he honed his skills at the renowned New England Baptist Hospital, further elevating his expertise. Dr. Festa then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the distinguished San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Program where he served as an assistant team Physician for the San Diego Padres and San Diego State University.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Festa holds the position of Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Seton Hall University. Additionally, he plays a crucial role as the Assistant Director of the orthopedic surgery residency program at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he serves as both the Assistant Director of the Sports Medicine Division and the Director of the Shoulder and Elbow Service. Furthermore, Dr. Festa contributes as an instructor at the Arthroscopy Association of North America’s National Learning Center. In this capacity, he teaches the latest arthroscopic techniques to orthopedic surgeons at both the resident and attending levels from all over the country.

Dr. Festa’s impact on the orthopedic surgery community goes beyond the operating room. He has made significant contributions to his field by publishing extensively, authoring numerous book chapters and publishing dozens of articles in esteemed orthopedic surgery journals. His extensive body of work covers a wide range of topics, including ACL injuries, shoulder instability, and biceps tendon disorders. Dr. Festa’s significant contributions to renowned publications include prestigious orthopedic surgery journals such as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and the Journal of Arthroplasty.

In addition to his scholarly endeavors, Dr. Festa has been entrusted with the vital role of head team physician for Seton Hall University since 2008. He is also an orthopedic consultant for Montclair State University, The New Jersey Jackals Baseball Team, and multiple local high schools in New Jersey.

Dr. Festa’s commitment to excellence and patient care is evident through his active involvement in esteemed organizations. He has served on the Board of Councilors representing the state of New Jersey at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), in addition to being an AAOS fellow. Dr. Festa has also contributed his expertise as a board member of the New Jersey Orthopedic Society and is a valued member of esteemed professional associations including the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the American Arthroscopy Society of North America (AANA), and the Big East Sports Medicine Society.

As a testament to his unwavering dedication to his patients, Dr. Festa received several remarkable awards and accolades throughout his career. The American Orthopedic Association (AOA) has identified him as an Emerging Leader in the field of orthopedic surgery. Most recently, he was honored with the title of Orthopedist of the Year in New Jersey by the Arthritis Foundation, further underscoring his exceptional skill set. Dr. Festa is currently accepting new patients in the Wayne Academy Orthopedics and OrthoEast offices.
